Where do our electricity come from?

Most of the power stations burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas to generate electricity. Whereas hydroelectric power plants generate electricity by storing water in vast reservoirs behind dams.

A coal-fired power plant is a thermal power station which burns coal to generate electricity.

The pulveriszed coal is burned in the pulverized coal- fired boiler to convert water to steam, which is then sent through turbine connected to an electric generator in order to generate electricity.

Hydropower, or hydroelectric power, capture the energy of falling water to generate electricity.

The power is generated by using dam to alter the natural flow of river, and a reservoir where water is stored. The water flows through a pipe, or penstock, then pushes against and turns blades in a turbine to spin a generator to produce electricity.
